Dear Readers,

I finished writing Behind the Seens a couple weeks ago, and I can't tell you how many times I laughed to the point I had to stop typing. Whether it was 'fake' graduating from college, or my first book signing where only nine people showed up, or having a panic attack ten minutes before I was set to go on a live morning show, or wallpapering two rooms with rejection letters, or going to a Writer's Conference and nearly walking out because one of the workshops was called "Plot", or my dad learning how to text message just so he could send me what my ranking was on ; I enjoyed every second of my walk down memory lane.

What many people don't know is that when Unforeseen first came out ten years ago, it was titled Unforescene (scene spelled like crime scene) and I published it myself. Behind the Seens is the memoir of how a book went from being sold out of the back of a maroon Volkswagen Passat to becoming the #1 book on and all the struggles, adventures, and triumphs along the way. It is packed with hilarious stories, random lost writings, embarrassing photographs, personal emails, and industry secrets. I hope you enjoy reading it half as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Nick is a dang (don't know if use of the other, correct, "d" word is allowed) good author. It is his writing style that is the "hook," and as a lifelong, voracious reader, I truly appreciate the fact that he isn't rushing to publish, and in the process publishing sub-par material. He cares about what he writes, so much so that his passion is evident in the final product. THIS book is, of course, a departure from his normal work, because it is his telling of everything that has gotten him to this point, and just how arduous an endeavour it is to BE a writer. I can honestly say that I have, and will, buy every book ever written/published by this young man, and I sing his praises whenever the situation arises. I give many more than 5 stars, for this book, and every book he's written.

Note: giving away the occasional freebie is, perhaps, the best possible marketing strategy. I constantly troll the free book offerings on Amazon, for my beloved Kindle, and that is how I found Mr. Pirog. He was offering a freebie, I downloaded and read it, immediately and in one sitting, and then went back to Amazon and downloaded every book he had published to date. And I continue to obtain his books, as soon as they are available.

I hope to write a book one day, for writing is as much a passion, for me, as reading. Nick Pirog is my idol in that regard. Keep up the excellent work, Mr. Pirog, and hurry up with your next book!

Having picked up his first book by mistake. Got his Thomas Prescott character confused with another Prescott. So glad I made the error. There are times when I wish I could say to authority what Thomas Prescott does. Makes me laugh so hard that someone was thinking like me.......
His thrillers hold you strong and on edge...... I hate when the books end.... I want more

This little book was so informative. I live in Colorado and my kids went to CSU. He loves dogs. He loves his parents. And he writes from a personal touch. Loved reading his personal life. And opening up his thoughts and disappointments to all. Make him become so real. Thanks for sharing all the pictures. Very handsome family.
Light reading for a change.
Before I leave a review I have to say Nick Pirog is my favorite new author.. After reading this book I find he's not a new author I'm just a new reader of his books.. I have read every book and loved every book that he has released so far.. And after reading this one I appreciate them even more.. But please ,now that I'm addicted to your books ,could you please write more books faster.. Eagerly awaiting the next book.. Thank you and please keep writing..
I'm a new Nick Pirog fan. So, I was curious about the thinking and process that allows him to write with the unusual and unique perspective he does. I know nothing about the process he had to go through to become a "published" author and this missive gave me a new respect for today's new writers. What an agonizing and drawn out time. I applaud them all for their perseverance and / et al for making it more possible for them and us to move into new ways to express oneself with the written word.
I don't usually read this kind of book, but since it was about Nick Pirog, I made an exception. Nick, you wrote this so well and it was so entertaining that I put off reading the next book on my list. So far I've read 8 of 10 of your books that I own. All but one of them I rated 5 stars, and the one I didn't still got a 4.4 rating. Back to "Behind the Seens" You made this so enjoyable (and informative). I didn't get my first Pirog book until February, 2014 and since then I make a point to grab them as soon as I see one. Keep up the good work; hopefully you'll never need to wait tables again.
I'm an avid reader who admittedly hasn't a clue how to compose a story, complete a book and publish. What a great behind the scenes look at this journey from a very talented author. Thank you for not giving up as I do appreciate your humor and clever storylines. I read over a hundred books a year....mysteries, historical stuff and some best sellers. When I get a new book by you,I hold off reading it to savor the moment and assure that I don't have to wait ages for the next release. I always find myself laughing out loud as I read. Great stuff for sure.
My husband has read a lot of books by Nick Pirog, but when he mentioned that Nick had written a book BEHIND THE SEENS, and that it detailed his experience getting his books published AND that when Nick decided to publish via Direct Publishing on , that is when his writing/publishing career truly took off. He got to quit his day/night job and devote his time to writing. If you have ever wanted to write and publish, there is absolutely no better time. As an avid reader my whole life, it was interesting to hear firsthand how difficult the publishing process can be....and inspiring to see how hard Nick worked to get his talent out there. The weekend I devoured Unforeseen was one of those memories of what great writing does to impact a person. It was three years ago and the memory is fresh. In addition to being wildly talented, Nick Pirog is still a humble person who is awesome to his fans, and I wish him many more years of huge success. Thank you for all the years you put in to bring joy to us. I'm feeling a real urge to reread Unforeseen now, just to be that impressed by a book again.
