Love Enduring Promise Love Comes Softly Series #2 Volume 2 Janette Oke 9780764228490 Books
Couple of things about this book, number one.....I read the first book in the series and liked it enough to want to continue, right after downloading it I saw it wasn't part of Kindle Unlimited, usually if one book in the series is in KU then all in the series are in KU, at least that's been my experience. But I liked book one enough to start to read it. My 2nd observation, reading this book seemed to be a never ending list of things to be done and read like the author was checking things off a to-do list. I ended up returning the book after reading a few chapters. So I can't say I read the whole book. In the future if the whole book series isn't in Kindle Unlimited I won't be reading the first book, sorta like bait and switch as the first book really didn't have a complete story.

Love Enduring Promise Love Comes Softly Series #2 Volume 2 Janette Oke 9780764228490 Books Reviews
I love the "Love Comes Softly" books/movies. I have seen all the movies and am now enjoying reading the books. Even though the movies are quiet different the underlying stories are the same. The Davis family gives you a true feeling for life in 1800s and the hardships they faced. It's wonderful too read about the close knit family and feel the love thay have for each other.
What different reading this book and seeing on 📺. I not sure which one I enjoy most. I can't what to read book three.
Janette Oke is a wonderful author who gives us one faith-based book after another. The "Love" series of books focuses on a family in the pioneer days and you will fall in love with the characters in the book (or hate a couple of them). The first in the series was "Love Comes Softly" and I suggest reading them in order for the best understanding of the characters and their relationship with one another. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Yup, that’s how I started reading this book after reading the first in the series.... I really enjoyed how their lives started and continue to evolve... Cant wait to start on number 3!,,
Young readers will enjoy the clear writing in these works along with the sincere knowledge of the AUTHORESS who is weaving a great, as well as, compelling story. Set in the Canadian Rockies of the 1800's, the reader is thoroughly educated in the role of the Canadian Mounties, who acted in many unique capacities--- from peacekeeper, to judges to doctors. This series is really one of my favorites and is a great beginning for someone who has never read Miss Oke's books. They will get a first hand view of her characters, their realistically honorable features as well as their function in their world of the 1800's Canadian Rockies.
I almost feel guilty giving "Love's Enduring Promise" only a 4-star rating; however, its brevity in plot and character development, left me a little unsatisfied. It was not until the end that my tears began to flow and emotionalism had me check and remind myself, "It's only a book." I started out to read only the first 2 books in the "Love Comes Softly" series, after having somehow stumbled onto the first book. Now, I'm more inclined to go further...How much further? Well, that depends. If #3 is about Missy and Willie, I'm hooked! I can say that as the mother of a daughter (an only daughter), who just happens to live only 18 miles away, I cannot fathom losing her to a greater unreachable distance. I think my attachment here developed in the first book, as Marty grew to love Missy and Clark. (I loved Book 1!) I would have appreciated more intimacy or development, as in Book one, into the relationships in this book. But they seemed to only fly by, like ships in the night. Truthfully, I can honestly say I'm looking forward to more of Ms.Oke's work. And this makes her a serious contender in my book, since I'm a owner and the series, while dated, does not come in groups! A virtual "newcomer" to JO's work.
Honestly, the movie was better than the book in this case, even though the movie didn't exactly follow the book. This book covered something like 15 years. Fifteen years. Thus the "summaries" Oke gave us during this period (the school, the church, births, courtships, marriages) were interesting but flew by like an abridged version of Cliff Notes. Most disappointing to me was the limited dialogue/lack of depth between Clark and Marty. I fell in love with them in Love Comes Softly and was looking forward to more of Clark's humble, faith-filled wisdom in this book. For example, with Tommie and the Indian girl--but Marty just handled that on her own. It's hard to give this book only three stars, but it wasn't as good as the first book, in my opinion.
